“The fidelity of a horse is a precious gift demanding no less binding moral responsibilities than the friendship of a human being. The bond with a horse is as lasting as the ties of the earth can ever be.” -Konrad Lorenz
On Friday, February 5th, 2021 Sea was laid to rest here at Poole Training Center.
One of my most favorite quotes has been:
“All horses deserve, at least once in their lives, to be loved by a little girl.”
It is no secret that Sea was loved by many, many little girls and boys.
Sea came to us over 26 years ago as a youngster when we trained him
for the first little girl that loved him. As the years passed we were honored to be
able to continue his care as he became and incredible “school” horse.
There is no way to count how many girls, boys, men and women that he taught how to ride. “When we love our animals as family we begin to realize animals are our family.”
Sea always made me smile when I came in the barn as he would nicker
and rub his teeth on the wall because he was certain it was feed time.
He was full of sass and personality and we all loved him here at PTC!
“Through the days of love and celebration and joy, and through the dark days of mourning…the faithful horses has been with us always.”
– Elizabeth Cotton
No matter how long we are in the horse business this only gets harder for Blanchard, Debbie and myself each time we have to say good-bye to a very dear friend. “When we think of those companions who traveled by our side down life's road, let us not say with sadness that they left us behind,
but rather say with gentle gratitude that they once were with us.”
I know for many of you this will be very difficult news to receive as
many of you loved Sea as much as all of us here. Sea, we all dearly loved you and miss you more than words can ever express.

Memories of Sea
"It was such a pleasure to spend my first years of teaching with Sea. Not only was I able to use him as a lesson horse, but I learned to ride on Sea and he was the first non gaited horse that I ever showed.
He was certainly a character and lived in the hearts of so many kids that he taught to ride. There will certainly be a hole missing in my lesson program and in the barn." - Katelin Dukes
"Sea had a remarkable life thanks to the love and immaculate care provided by you all. He was loved by so many and will be deeply missed. I am ever grateful he got to be exactly the horse he was (grumpy and particular) with people who cherished and understood him." -Kendal Turner
"Sea was loved by many. He holds a place my heart. I am honored to have been blessed by him. The world was brighter with him in it and I thank you for sharing him." - Lynn Lucas
"Sea was an amazing horse. I am one of those little girls who enjoyed many rides on him." - Megan Ray
"I loved my lessons on him! He was an awesome schoolmaster!" - Karen Knarr
