Do you allow students to come and job shadow for school credit and otherwise?
Job shadowing with anyone here at PTC is reserved for our current established riding/driving students or clients. If you are interested in setting this up you would contact your instructor directly and if there is availability in the schedule we will do our best to set it up! Just like all lessons and appointments this must be set up in advance so that everyone that will play a part in the job shadow experience is prepared to make it the best and most educational experience possible! Remember, we are not just a riding center or a boarding facility. We are also a training center. We have multiple barns full of young horses at different levels of knowledge and training! Everyone that will be actively participating with anything on our property must have a signed release form (with both parents’ signatures) on file! Safety is our Number 1 Priority but there is always a chance that something can happen…that just goes with horses. And SHOULD anything happen we MUST know how to get in contact with guardians and emergency contacts not for just minors but adults too!
Are the lessons strictly for people that have had experience with horses or are they beginner friendly?
We teach beginners to the super duper advanced.
(Do you like that technical equestrian term??)
But seriously, we will start as early as 7 or 8 and teach until well,
Blanchard is about to turn 76 and he is still training horses. The only way
to know if you will still be passionate about horses, love horses and riding
horses at 76 is to start. So, all you can do is shoot us an email or give us a call
and see if we have an opening. Sometimes we have a waiting list and sometimes
you get lucky and we have an opening that is the perfect fit for you!

What do I need when I come to my riding lesson?
Proper riding attire is required at all times:Long pants, a boot or shoe with a heel, and a helmet.
(Helmets are mandatory for anyone under 18 years old and strongly suggested for all persons while mounted.)
We encourage everyone to wear a helmet for safety. Helmets are REQUIRED for anyone 18 and under.

Where can I get a helmet?
There are many places that you can get a riding helmet locally. However, if you are anything like us Amazon is our "go to" place for everything especially when we don't want to go anywhere and we want something delivered straight to our door! Check out these helmets:
How do I measure to determine what size helmet I need?
This is a great question! How do I measure to determine what size helmet that I should order or purchase for myself or my child? First, you measure for the hat size, see the diagram below. Second, once you have the hat size you will choose the helmet size that corresponds with the correct helmet size! Not too bad once you know how! And many of the helmets that are for children are adjustable to a point so that you are not constantly having to purchase new helmets!
Not required at all and maybe just a thought...
- When it comes to riding lessons and learning about horses there is a LOT to soak in. and sometimes it is hard to remember it all from week to week. Then, there are times that you leave the barn so excited about something you saw, something you learned, something you did or maybe someone you met and before you know it you were so excited and then it's gone, you lost it. Well, our Office Manager, Melissa Davis, created this little journal just for this reason. Now, you can use it for anything. but it is also a great thing to have to record all the happenings when you are at the barn, in your lesson, etc. They are available on Amazon only. You can click HERE to get The Equestrian Journal for yourself or the horse people in your life!
